Job Description: Build Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a prestigious client. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Management: Efficiently manage project costs from inception to completion, including budget preparation, cost forecasting, and cost control.
  2. Procurement: Oversee the procurement process, including tendering, negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring value for money.
  3. Contract Administration: Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including managing variations and claims.
  4. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to cost, quality, and schedule through proactive risk management strategies.
  5. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts, to keep stakeholders informed of project financial status.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure smooth project delivery and resolve any commercial issues that may arise.
  7. Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving disputes and claims in a timely and cost-effective manner, utilizing negotiation and dispute resolution techniques.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-saving initiatives to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  10. Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. 
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management techniques.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as Excel, cost estimation software, and project management software.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
