Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Planned Works (Social Housing Refurbishment)

Contract Type: Freelance, £250 per day (with potential to go permanent after 6 months)

We are currently working with a Tier One Property Services Contractor who is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Dartford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term programme of planned works within the social housing refurbishment sector, with the option to transition into a permanent role after an initial 6-month period or continue on a freelance basis.

The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of planned maintenance and refurbishment works across a portfolio of social housing projects. This is a key role ensuring financial control, contract compliance, and value delivery across multiple schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing all commercial aspects of planned works projects

• Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor packages

• Cost planning, forecasting, and reporting

• Valuations, variations, and final accounts

• Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual obligations

• Liaising closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the social housing or property services sector

• Strong background in planned maintenance/refurbishment works

• Experience working for a main contractor (Tier One experience desirable)

• Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively
