Contract Role £30 per hour Immediate Start 5 Days On-Site (Mon–Fri, 8:00–16:30)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Band 7 Estates Manager (Mechanical) to join a busy and fast-paced Estates Maintenance team within a healthcare environment. This is a contract position offering £30 per hour, with an immediate start available.

The Role

As Estates Manager (Mechanical), you will lead and manage the delivery of Mechanical Hard FM services, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence across the site. You will oversee in-house operational staff and specialist contractors, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will act as the Responsible and/or Authorised Person for key mechanical disciplines, supporting the safe and compliant operation of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems

  • Manage and supervise in-house estates staff and external contractors

  • Act as Authorised/Responsible Person for services including Water Safety, Heating Systems, Ventilation Systems and Medical Gas Systems

  • Ensure compliance with HTMs, HBNs, and Hard FM standards

  • Lead Health and Safety and risk management within mechanical services

  • Analyse training needs and support development of team members

  • Work collaboratively with Electrical and Building Estates teams

  • Support operational service delivery and participate in the on-call rota

  • Ensure works are completed within tight deadlines

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related specialist field such as ventilation, water safety or heating systems

  • Significant experience managing mechanical services within a complex environment

  • Proven experience supervising contractors and multi-trade in-house teams

  • Experience acting as Authorised Person in a mechanical discipline

  • Strong knowledge of Hard FM estates maintenance

  • Sound understanding of HTMs and HBNs

  • Knowledge of water safety and ventilation compliance

  • Strong problem-solving ability

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • IT literate

  • Full, valid UK driving licence (manual and automatic)

  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rota

Contract Details

Rate: £30 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Site-based, 5 days per week
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
