Role Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial cost control and reporting for one or more developments from award to completion. This will include managing final accounts for clients and sub-contractors, recovering retentions, and archiving materials upon project completion. You will also be responsible for effective cash management and proper administration of subcontractor accounts, as well as cultivating long-lasting relationships and promoting dispute avoidance. In addition, you will identify and communicate any potential commercial threats to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director, and supervise and train Assistant and Trainee Surveyors while maintaining high-quality work.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of a degree in quantity surveying or a related field, along with significant relevant experience within the construction industry. You should also possess strong decision-making and communication skills, excellent numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office. We are looking for someone who is client-focused and able to prioritise work against tight deadlines and conflicting priorities, with extensive knowledge of measurement and valuation, final accounts, sub-contract orders, and purchasing. Strong commercial skills to maximise value recovery, cost control, and cash management are also essential, along with proficiency in preparing and understanding financial reports.
