Civils supervisor – National grid contract

This role is within our clients power division working on a National Grid contract covering multiple projects within Cornwall.

You will be responsible for the supervision of 3-4 civils teams in this area. Overseeing the operational activities such as substation base casting, trenching and joint bay excavation, duct installation and cable pulling on a variety LV, 11kV and 33kV electrical distribution projects.

You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, successful delivery of all scheduled work to strict deadlines as well as liaising with planners, operational delivery teams, customers, site agents, and the client to proactively manage all civils work aspects.

The client is aiming to find someone that can work directly for them. Meaning a permanent position with annual salary and bonuses will be up for negotiation after settling into the position.

Day to day:

• Taking ownership of the job to completion.
• A work van and fuel card will be issued to you in this role.
• Allocating and monitoring the work given to teams, to ensure they are compliant, safe and deliver on time.
• Briefing of teams on the works prior to starting work.
• Deliver toolbox talks to all staff and return completed sign off sheets.
• Ensure the correct PPE and equipment is available to teams so they can complete the task safely.
• Ensure the correct traffic management is in place along with the correct NRSWA permits where applicable.
• Attend site meetings when required.
• Preparing job packs including utility stats and checking they are up to date.
• Carry out any other duties appropriate for the role.

Requirements:

• Previous experience is essential for this role.
• Professional at all times
• Good work ethic
• A CSCS card, skill card not essential but will be an advantage.
• Street works supervisor ticket.
• PPE
• Tools
• Driving licence is essential 
• Good timekeeping
